Why is there a cave in the Matt Brown Childrens' Reading Room? Why are there colorful bats fluttering from the ceiling and stalagmites dressing the walls? And why, oh why, is there a stegosaur skeleton hanging about? Well, because this summer’s statewide reading program theme is “Dig into Reading", of course!. To celebrate, children pre-K to 12 are invited to sign up for an incentive program. Sign-up begins the week of June 3rd. Children will be given a reading book bag filled with instructions on how to log their weekly goals of reading, writing, and creative activities. Each week the log can be turned in for small prizes. Teens and adults can also join in the fun and set an example by reading, filling out a reader recommendation card, and thereby entering a weekly drawing for prizes. Performances and fun activities have also been scheduled. For pre-school and early elementary school children visit the library on Wednesdays at 10:30 starting June 12th as Camp Parkside Kindness Zone will be hosting Exploration Stations at the library (crafts, science, reading, and games). On Thursdays during the late afternoon, performances are scheduled for all ages to enjoy. The schedule is as follows:
